Great article Jenn.

I love Opinel knives. They come in all sizes from pocket to kitchen. The steel is not stainless so keep it dry and lightly oiled. But it easily takes and keeps a good edge. Best news is they are very inexpensive.

I take home small Laguiole cutlery.....so distinctive and so French. The handles are available in a variety of pretty colors or stainless steel.

You can find it in most kitchen supply stores, but La Joie de Vivre on Rue de Seine in the 6th Arrondissement has a terrific assortment and other lovely moderately priced houseware merchandise as well.

A butter or jam spreader, small cheese knife, or sugar spoon can be purchased for about 10 to 12 Euros.

It is a great gift, especially for entertaining, and definitely a sweet reminder of Paris.

Yes, RATP is so cool. BHV has it too but there’s more at GL. I was told there’s a dedicated shop somewhere but have not been able to find it.

I've seen some nice items in the Galeries Lafayette "souvenir" section. They are made for tourists but are definitely a cut above what you find in usual touristy gift shops. And of course there are the cool items you can get in museum bookshops, which sell much more than books!

Yes the GL is a great selection and you’re right on about museum gift shops! I like to buy one postcard when I go to a museum to hang up at home.

Love this article and so true. I would much rather fill my suitcase with a small piece of artwork or kitchen accessories than some plastic key chain or fake beret (reference to National Lampoon’s European Vacation ) haha!

Omg the fake berets! I see so many of them on tourists in Paris - National lampoon’s indeed! 😆
