There are quite a few French films I love - Three Colors Red, L’Enfer (the 1994 Chabrol film, not the more recent one), La Femme Nikita, La fille de d'Artagnan starring Sophie Marceau, and La Reine Margot. Not many of them have happy endings :)
Glenn! I love this. French cinema is so special. I loved the Three Colors trilogy (interestingly Kieslowski also did a number of B&W docos from his early days in Poland which are interesting). I also love Michael Hanecke’s French films if you don’t mind a slow burn. I’ll check out the Chabrol film you mention. Vive la France! 🇫🇷
