This was a fascinating read; I always admire the metro signage when I visit Paris. The Hôtel Guimard looked stunning. I'll look out for exhibitions of Guimard's work.

Every time I’m in Paris I admire these stunning metro entrances, and I have wondered about them. Thanks to your write up, I can appreciate them even more.

I enjoyed the read as well as our tour yesterday. Very nice. We passed an apartment building that caught my attention...well the chimneys for the fireplaces did. I took a photo of the building which was built in 1900 and has a lot of art nuveau wrought iron around the balconys and interesting supports under them too. Thanks for the article and the tour...very well done.

David! Thank you so much and I’m really glad you enjoyed reading this. I just love art nouveau designs and the work Guimard did to create something we still see as iconic. 😊

I love those metro entrances! They're so much nicer than the new ones.

In a similar style, have you seen the Arts et Métier station? The platform for line 11 is my favorite!

Benoît Peeters and François Schuiten did such a good job.

I love the Arts et Métiers station - what an amazing concept! I feel like I’m in a submarine or something whenever I’m in there.

I would love to explore that neighborhood! I like this write up. What was Adeline's name before marriage?

Thank you Jenn, for a ‘cours intensif d'histoire de l'art!’ I have a few pics avec these metro entrances myself, and didn’t know their creator. 🙏🏾

A worthwhile tribute to a creative genius. Whenever I stand in front of one Guimard’s iconic metro entrances I feel so sad fewer than 90 remain in Paris. There were almost twice as many. I believe some made it abroad, in Chicago perhaps?

Yes, I think Chicago has one or some of them. I am glad at some point there was a thought given to preservation of his work! Then it was be protected.
